I saw the first add at the Broadway cinema in Feb 2015 for This Girl Can and it gave me goosebumps. Women of all different ages and sizes trying new sports and having fun. I have tried to keep fit and active since my 20s as I hated sport at school.

In March 2015 I asked my 21 year old daughter to show me how to run as I was totally inspired after seeing her complete yet another half marathon. I was excited and petrified.. extremely self conscious, walked bits, couldn't breathe but I went out and was buzzing half an hour later and so proud. I went the next week and things got better.. I even went on my own at a time when I thought no one would see me. I saw a few friends on my FB ran with Notts Women Runners so I emailed the leader and went to a group. Totally loved it.. loved the people.. the attitude of the ladies.. felt fantastic. My confidence just grew and grew and I lost weight. I joined up and even signed up for my first 10k race in July and Robin Hood Half Marathon in September.

I got the running bug and I still have it. I combine running with lots of classes at my leisure centre.. kettles, fitworks, swiss ball and pilates which i adore. I feel great.. made so many friends. Exercise to me is about having fun and doing what you love when you can. It doesn't matter if you have 2 left feet .. enjoy yourself.. you CAN do it x
